Spurs want and need a trophy says Prem legend

Tottenham Hotspur have been extremely impressive since Pochettino arrived at the helm four seasons ago.

Spurs have finished in the top three for three years running now in the Premier League.

They beat both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in last year’s Champions League, as well as going toe to toe with Juventus.

Tottenham have beaten every other Premier League top six club on their day in recent years, but for some reason they have been unable to string everything together to win a trophy.

This season alone, Spurs have enjoyed their best ever start to a campaign, with 21 points from 30.

This has also been in the face of so many problems. Spurs had almost half their first team out injured at one point, as well as nine in the semi finals of the World Cup, not to mention the business with the unfished stadium.

Tottenham and Pochettino will be hoping to end the 10 year silverware drought this season, as Alan Shearer claims they want and need a trophy.

Shearer wrote in his Coral column: “A lot of credit has to go to Spurs, as things have not been perfect for them so far this season.

“A number of their top players including Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen have been out injured.

“Harry Kane has yet to hit top form and then there are all the issues they have had with their new stadium, yet up until last week, they’d had their best start to a Premier League campaign.

“When you look at the budget they spend on their team, it’s incredible they finish where they do every season.

“However, even allowing for all of these factors, they are no different to any other big club, they want and need to win a trophy to silence their critics.”
