French journalist Ignazio Genuardi has revealed that despite Tottenham wanting to sign Marcus Thuram in January, the Borussia Monchengladbach star would prefer a summer transfer.
If reports over recent weeks are to be believed, Thuram is one of the most sought-after attackers in European football ahead of the January transfer window.
The winger’s contract at Gladbach runs out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt) and it has been reported recently that the Bundesliga club would thus be willing to cash in on the Frenchman for just €10m (£8.6m) in January (Nicolo Schira).
Both 90 min and Gazzetta dello Sport (17/11/22 via Sport Witness) have revealed over recent weeks that Thuram is on Tottenham’s radar.
However, Antonio Conte’s men are not the only Premier League club after the 25-year-old, with Newcastle (The Sun) and Arsenal (the aforementioned Gazzetta report) also credited with an interest in the player.
Genuardi has now taken to social media to state that Spurs ‘will try’ to sign Thuram when the transfer window opens in January. However, the journalist suggested that the Gladbach star might prefer to run his contract down and leave Borussia Park as a free agent next summer.
#Mercato

Gladbach will likely want to cash in on Thuram in January as it does not appear as if he is going to sign a new contract. However, the 25-year-old has a lot of power in his current situation and could simply refuse a move.
He could probably get a bigger salary package at his next club if he decides to leave on a free and there will likely be far more clubs joining the queue for his signature ahead of the summer.
