Spurs would ‘love to get a fee’ for five players this summer, and maybe a sixth – Journalist

Djed Spence may have spent the season out on loan, but there is a small chance he could still make something of his Tottenham Hotspur career. According to journalist Charlie Eccleshare, there are hopes Spence could come good, but the club are also not against the idea of selling him.

Despite being signed in the summer of 2022, Spence has only made six appearances for Tottenham at a total of just 41 minutes (Transfermarkt).

Since joining the club, the young right-back has spent time on loan at Rennes, Leeds United, and is now plying his trade in Italy with Genoa. Spence joined the Serie A side as part of the agreement to bring Radu Dragusin to Spurs.

He’s now played 11 times for Genoa, and has done his reputation no harm over in Italy. But, what his future holds is still unclear.

Will Djed Spence stay at Tottenham?

In an appearance on The View from the Lane podcast, Charlie Eccleshare suggested he could see Tottenham keeping hold of Spence and trying to make things work, but would also not be surprised if the player moved on permanently.

He said: “To be honest, Ndombele, Reguilon, Tanganga, Rodon, Parrott. Their contracts expire next summer. They’d love to get a fee for any of those players. Spence, the noises I was getting in January was sort of a ‘never say never’ sort of way.

“But it wasn’t like they were really excited about him and waiting for him to get back. It wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to move him on.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I really wish we could get a tune out of Djed Spence, to be honest. He’s got bags of talent, and if he can just get his attitude in line with what we want, then we’d have a brilliant deputy for Pedro Porro. It wouldn’t hurt that he could boost our homegrown numbers, too.
