Spurs youngster makes shock exit ahead of summer switch

Proclaimed as Tottenham’s ‘future star’ Reo Griffiths has left the club after he cancelled his own contract.

The 18-year-old has been linked with a summer move with numerous European sides looking to invest in the youngster.

Ligue 1 side Lyon seem set to snap up the potential ‘wonder kid’ with the two parties believed to be in ‘advanced talks’ over a potential move.

Griffiths made his name at Spurs following a sensational performance against North London rivals Arsenal in a 9-0 victory over their U18s side.

The London-born striker netted four against the Gunners as well as providing three assists in the record-breaking win.

Football.London believe Spurs will receive a compensation package no matter who Griffiths decides to join due to the money and time invested in the 18-year-old throughout his time in the Spurs academy.

However, this is not the first time in the last year one of Tottenham’s star youngsters has departed the club.

Keenan Bennetts also left the club for Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach in May in order to play more first-team football.

With the future of Marcus Edwards also hanging in the balance, could this be the start of numerous departures from Tottenham?
