Spurs youngster set for Championship loan move

Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to join Swansea City on loan after impressing during his Championship spells at Sheffield United and Ipswich Town last season.

With the likes of Toby Alderweireld staying put for the time being, and Eric Dier providing cover at centre-back, the young defender is said to be surplus to requirements, for this year at least.

The 20-year-old has been one of the stars in Tottenham’s academy crown for some years now, as they look to grant him the experience he needs to eventually succeed in the Premier League.

Carter-Vickers actually signed a new contract in May, keeping him in North London until 2021.

Swansea are on the lookout for a new centre-half, after losing Alfie Mawson and Federico Fernandez in the transfer window.

It is said that the Swans want to bring the defender in this weak, with a game against Leeds United on Tuesday.

Swansea currently only have two fit and ready centre backs to choose from.

This could be a double blow for Leeds United, as they were also looking at brining in a young Tottenham centre-back before August 31, in the shape of Juan Foyth.

However, it is unlikely that Pochettino will allow both Carter-Vickers and Foyth to leave at present, with few other back up options for cup runs and in case of injuries.
