Stan Collymore defends Tottenham’s transfer strategy

Tottenham Hotspur have not been as active in the current transfer window to date as fans many would have liked.

With only a couple of days to go before the window slams shut until January, Spurs fans will be hoping that the club can get a few more signings through the door before their deadline.

However, one player who Spurs did sign early on in the window was midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. Spurs shattered their transfer record to land the French International, who is one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in Europe.

Ndombele certainly showed why he is so highly rated during his performances in the preseason as he not only looked quite comfortable on the ball but also showed his proficiency at winning the ball back and kickstarting attacks.

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has now praised Tottenham for identifying Ndombele and signing him early in the transfer window. He said that strategy was preferable to singing players just to appease fans.

Here’s what the 48-year-old tweeted:

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Ndombele will be a brilliant player for the club. Not only is he a proper box to box midfielder but at 22 years of age, he still has a lot of time to get even better. However, we at Spurs Web believe that the club needs to sign at least two more players before the end of the transfer window if they wish to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool next season.
