Stan Collymore praises Spurs whilst labelling Arsenal as ‘daft’

Former Nottingham Forest and Liverpoool striker Stan Collymore believes that Tottenham Hotspur may have made the signing of the summer in Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs broke their previous transfer fee record when they shelled out £55 million to land the 22-year-old French international (talkSPORT).

While Spurs are paying big money to sign players to help take the club to the next level, their North London rivals are making headlines of their own.

Arsenal only have around £40million to spend this summer after failing to secure a Champions League place next season (BBC).

Despite their limitations, Arsenal have been bidding for new players but are unable to meet the demands of the other club.

The Gunners are said to have made a £40 million bid for Wilfried Zaha at the start of the month which was rejected out of hand by Crystal Palace.

Arsenal’s transfer activity has been deemed as making daft bids for players well below thei true valuation claims Collymore.

Palace are said to want around £100million for the Ivory Coast winger (The Guardian).

“While Arsenal make daft bids, hats off to Tottenham for doing their business the right way,” Collymore told The Sunday People (7/7; page 59).

“Their club-record £55 million signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele could be the capture of the summer window and was done under the radar.”
