Star player wants the new stadium to be a fortress

Tottenham have played two games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so far.

Both of those games finished as victories for the north London club.

Spurs hosted Crystal Palace last week in a match which marked the opening of the impressive ground.

Thanks to second half goals from Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen, the Lilywhites beat the Eagles 2-0.

The quarterfinal of the Champions League, however, was a much tougher test for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Despite all the pressure, the Argentine’s tactics were spot on and his players managed to outplay Guardiola’s men.

Spurs will take a narrow 1-0 advantage into the Etihad next Wednesday.

After Tuesday’s night victory Danny Rose claimed that Tottenham want to make the new stadium a ‘fortress’.

Reflecting on the atmosphere of the ground after Hugo Lloris’ penalty save, Rose said (talkSPORT): “When Hugo saved the penalty, my ears were buzzing because of the fans and how loud it was.”

The fans definitely did not disappoint during the quarterfinal clash against the reigning Premier League champions, creating an incredible atmosphere inside the stadium.

“The plan is to get the stadium back to being a fortress…and make sure teams know that when they come here they’re going to be in for a game.

“Thank you to the fans for making the first two games at the new stadium very memorable,” the full-back added.

Rose has also claimed that Spurs will go and try to win the game in Manchester next week.

“I can tell everybody now the plan will not be to go there and sit back,” the England international said.
