Star Tottenham sold this summer claims he is now at the peak of his career

Erik Lamela has claimed that he is currently in the ‘best moment’ and at the peak of his career since departing Tottenham for Sevilla.

The Argentine winger saw his eight-year stay in North London come to an end over the summer, joining the La Liga side as a part of a deal for young Spanish midfielder Bryan Gil.

Lamela joined Spurs as the club’s record signing in the summer of 2013, but much of his time in North London was marred by inconsistency and injury problems which stopped him from progressing in his career.

However, he has managed to hit the ground running at Sevilla – recording three goals and two assists in his opening nine games for the side.

Lamela’s ease at settling into life in Spain has led him to believe he is entering the prime of his career, and he wants to ‘take advantage’ of the opportunities that are being presented to him.

Lamela said (AS): “I feel in the best moment of maturity. All these years have served me as an experience to grow as a player and a person.

“I am at a time when I fell in this place and I am excited. I am happy to be here and take advantage to play football.”

The deal between Sevilla and Spurs seems like one that has benefitted both parties so far. It didn’t really seem like there was much of a future for Lamela at Spurs, so a swap move for a promising player in Gil was never going to be turned down.
