“Start him against Norwich” – Some fans call for Mourinho to play striker

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their reaction after Troy Parrott was back on the goal trail last night.

The 18-year-old was named in the Tottenham Under-23 side for the Premier League 2 match against their Wolverhampton Wanderers counterparts at Broadhall Way.

After making a late cameo for Jose Mourinho’s first team against Wolves when he was brought off the bench during injury time in the 3-2 defeat in North London on Sunday afternoon, it was decided to give the Republic of Ireland international a rare run-out for Wayne Burnett’s side; his first at academy level since the FA Youth Cup tie against Liverpool in December.

Parrott opened the scoring after just eight minutes of action when some good work from Maurizio Pochettino down the right saw the former Tottenham manager’s son deliver a right-footed cross into the box for the striker to tap home from close range.

Spurs went on to take a 3-0 lead by half time, only for Wolves to rally back late in the second half with two goals of their own.

Parrott was brought off at half time with Alasdair Gold suggesting that he could once again be on the bench on Wednesday night for the visit of Norwich City in the FA Cup fifth round.

Here’s how some fans reacted to Parrott’s goal.
