‘Starting from today’ – Fabrizio Romano update on Spurs’ Adama Traore pursuit

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham will re-enter talks with Wolves to complete the signing of Adama Traore and there is confidence an agreement will soon be reached.

Tottenham’s interest in Traore, 25, has taken a step up over the last few days after Antonio Conte’s side allegedly saw a £15 million bid turned down a week ago (The Telegraph).

However, Sky Sports recently reported that negotiations regarding a deal worth around £25 million have been progressing while an agreement on personal terms should not be an issue.

Romano has backed up those claims, stating that Spurs are now ‘prepared to push’ on securing the transfer of Traore with talks to resume from Monday (January 24).

The Italian transfer expert also stated that Spurs are confident in completing a deal, which would see him become the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.

Should the deal come to materialise, it is expected that Spurs boss Conte will deploy him in a right wing-back role to provide competition to Emerson Royal (Daily Mail).

Traore has made 21 appearances for Wolves in the Premier League this season (Transfermarkt) but has started the last three games on the bench.

Traore looks very likely to happen at this stage and although it maybe should have happened a lot earlier in the window, it is an addition nevertheless. Once he comes in the club should look to move swiftly onto its next targets with a week to go until the deadline.
