‘Starting to click’ – Paul Merson shares Spurs v Everton score prediction

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Everton.

Frank Lampard’s side head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with two wins from nine top-flight matches this season, however, they have drawn four of those fixtures.

Spurs have suffered just one loss in the Premier League having been second-best in the north London derby at Arsenal following the international break.

Last time out, Merson incorrectly predicted that Tottenham would lose 2-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion when in fact it ended up as a 1-0 win for Antonio Conte’s side courtesy of a Harry Kane header.

Merson has tipped Tottenham to narrowly navigate their way to victory against the Toffees by a single goal.

The 52-year-old believes that Spurs are yet to hit top gear this season and believes their form will start to improve now that Heung-min Son has started to find the back of the net.

He told SportsKeeda: “Tottenham are starting to click under Antonio Conte. They did well to stay where they are without Son Heung-Min.

“Now that he’s started to play regularly, I think they’ll do well. They haven’t played too well so far and they’re third in the Premier League – there’s nothing too wrong with that.

“Teams like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur need to keep their focus on the top four. Two big teams are going to miss out this season, and you don’t want to be one of them.

“They need to keep on ticking away and reassess after the World Cup. Tottenham have stepped up this month and should be able to win this Premier League game.

“Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Everton.”

For 70 minutes against Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek, Tottenham arguably played their best football of the season.  However, the first and last ten minutes were nervy, to say the least.

Spurs need to be wary of set pieces and the aerial threat posed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin in what should be a home victory.
