Statisticians reveal one major advantage for Spurs over the remainder of the season

Tottenham Hotspur are currently languishing way down in 14th place in the Premier League table with 12 games of the season played, a position no one would have tipped them to be in at the start of the season.

Alarmingly, Spurs find themselves behind the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United who have themselves been quite poor this campaign.

However, the Premier League table might not be an accurate measure of these team’s performances this season as different teams have had fixtures of varying levels of difficulty so far.

The team at footylabs have worked out the strength of the schedule for each Premier League team based on their current position and the standing of their opponent.

Their calculations reveal that Spurs have had the 8th most difficult fixture list in the league so far.

More promisingly, the system also shows that Tottenham have the easiest fixture list of all twenty teams from now till the end of the season.

In contrast, some of Spurs’ rivals have a comparatively difficult fixture list and this could be an asset for Mauricio Pochettino’s men in their quest to finish in the top four for the fifth straight season.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is certainly an advantage that we have got difficult games like City away, Leicester away and Liverpool away out of the way already as the fixtures in the second half of the season look much more winnable. Having said that, at the moment we don’t even look capable of beating midtable sides at home and so if we are to have any hope of finishing in the top 4, we need to turn our form around quickly.
