‘Statement to the board’ – Some fans react to the Spurs team vs Chelsea

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their reaction to Antonio Conte’s team selection for this evening’s cup tie against Chelsea.

A place in the final of the Carabao Cup is at stake, with Chelsea currently ahead 2-0 on aggregate following last week’s disastrous display by the North Londoners at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham have lost just one of their five League Cup home matches against Chelsea (W2 D2), losing 3-0 in a quarter-final replay in January 1991 but have already lost twice to Thomas Tuchel’s side this season.

Conte was unable to call upon the recently-sidelined Cristian Romero, Steven Bergwijn, Eric Dier and Heung-Min Son.

Without a trophy since their 2008 League Cup triumph, Spurs have it all to do if they are to make a memorable comeback this evening.

Tanguy Ndombele is not included in the squad, while Pierluigi Gollini starts in goal ahead of Hugo Lloris and Matt Doherty is once again at left wing-back.

This is what some fans have had to say about the side which takes to the field in North London in under an hour’s time:
