Statistics reveal how Sergio Reguilon has improved under Nuno at Spurs

According to sports statistics database FBref, Sergio Reguilon is producing drastically improved numbers under Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham.

Reguilon, 24, has enjoyed a positive start to the campaign under the Portuguese coach, in what is his second season at the club since joining from Real Madrid last year.

However, he had a rather mixed first year at Tottenham last time out, where he struggled to live up to the early energetic performances he put in following the transfer.

It appears that Reguilon has put his troubles behind him and has started each of Tottenham’s eight games in the Premier League, playing every single minute and notching two assists in the process.

Reguilon’s start to the campaign can also be backed up by the numbers, which paint the marauding full-back in a very positive light compared to fellow full-backs.

As per FBref, he ranks in the 88th percentile for goal-creating actions among full-backs, and as such, in an impressive top 91 per cent for assists.

Much of this can be down to the volume of crosses he puts into the penalty area, for which he is currently placed in the 95th percentile.

Reguilon has also produced marked improvements defensively too, and is in the 88th percentile for interceptions, the 84th for tackles and interceptions and the top 91 per cent for not being dispossessed.

The numbers show a clear improvement both going forward and defensively compared to last season, where he produced mixed performances for the majority under Jose Mourinho.

Reguilon has been one of the unsung heroes so far this season, and is consistently demonstrating why the club shelled out for him last season. If he carries on this form going forward, he will be such a useful option up and down the left flank.
