Statistic shows how much harder Richarlison worked than Spurs teammates

Richarlison marked his Champions League debut with two goals last night, and the statistics from the game show that he worked harder than any other Tottenham Hotspur player on the pitch.

Spurs hosted French side Marseille in the Group D opener at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, their first taste of Champions League action in over two years. Two goals from Richarlison sealed a 2-0 win, after the Ligue 1 outfit went down to ten men.

The Brazilian signed for Spurs this summer from Everton in a deal reportedly worth an initial £50 million, potentially rising to £60 million with add-on bonuses (Sky Sports). Richarlison has certainly endeared himself to the Spurs faithful with his early performances.

He nearly bagged his first goal for the club at the weekend against Fulham in the Premier League, but a late goal was chalked off for offside after VAR involvement. Now, in his first ever European appearance, Richarlison scored two fine headers to mark the occasion.

Not only did he provide the winning goals, but Richarlison also put in the hard work too. Despite playing against ten men for much of the second half, Spurs failed to capitalise and looked below-par all over the pitch.

At least Richarlison can come away with his head held high, after statistics from UEFA based on the match (via Seb Stafford-Bloor) reveal that the attacker covered more ground than any of his teammates.

Stafford-Bloor tweeted: “Stat from UEFA: Richarlison ran 12.15km tonight, more than any other player and a km more than any other Spurs forward.”
