Stats highlight how Spurs star put in a near-flawless display against Stoke City

Harry Winks’ individual stats from his performance against Stoke City yesterday highlighted how the England international put in a near-flawless display.

The midfielder got the nod to start alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle of the park on the back of his decent second-half cameo against Leicester City on Sunday.

With Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele both absent for the quarter-final clash, it fell on the England international to provide the creativity in midfield for Jose Mourinho’s side and progress the ball forward.

He certainly did that while also displaying tremendous energy and desire to win back many times for his side.

According to Sky Sports, the midfielder gained possession back ten times during the game and created two chances for his side, including an inch-perfect floated cross into the box, which was finished expertly by Gareth Bale to put Spurs 1-0 up.

That assist was the 24-year-old’s first for Spurs since December 2017.

Here are Winks’ individual stats from his Man of the Match display:

Although we were up against sub-standard opposition on Sunday, Winks showed that he can be a more useful option than Sissoko when we are trying to break a team down. Hopefully, that performance is the start of his revival as we are certainly going to need him to be at his best if we are to compete on four fronts in the second half of the season.
