Stats show that 27-year-old Spurs keeper target is one of the best in Europe

Marca have revealed that the save percentage of rumoured Tottenham target, David Raya, is better than almost any other goalkeeper in European football.

A whole host of goalkeepers have been linked with a move to Spurs over recent months, with the North London club thought to be on the lookout for Hugo Lloris’ successor.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last week that Raya is one of four names on Tottenham’s shortlist to take over the gloves from their captain, along with Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.

The journalist added that Spurs view Raya as a cost-effective option since the goalkeeper will be down to the final 12 months of his contract in the summer.

The Spaniard admitted in a recent interview with The Athletic that he had turned down two contract offers from the Bees and opened up on his ambitions to play in Europe.

Marca have now revealed that Raya has saved 76.92 per cent of the shots that he has faced in 2022-23, with only Paris Saint-Germain number one, Gianluigi Donnarumma (77.45 per cent), having a higher save percentage among goalkeepers who have made more than 70 saves.

Further, it is revealed that Raya saves 86.7 per cent of the shots he saves from outside the box and 54 per cent of the shots inside the area, which shows that he has excellent reflexes.

While these numbers prove that Raya is a fantastic shot-stopper, one can also make the case that he is the best ball-playing goalkeeper in the Premier League at the moment after Ederson.

So, I believe that the 27-year-old will likely be at the top of Tottenham’s, Man Utd’s and Chelsea’s wishlists in the summer.
