‘Still alive’ – Journalist provides a more positive Pedro Porro Spurs update

Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto has revealed that Tottenham’s pursuit of Pedro Porro is not yet dead, despite the developments of the last few hours.

The first signs of trouble appeared this morning when Portuguese outlet Record revealed that Sporting had gone back on their word after initially agreeing on a deal with Spurs for Porro on Saturday.

This was confirmed a little while ago by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who revealed that the Portuguese club had renegotiated the terms of the deal at the last moment, leaving the 23-year-old devastated.

Fabrizio Romano then took to social media to reveal that Porro’s medical at Spurs had to be called off but he stated that the two clubs are still in talks to see if a deal can be pushed through.

Moretto has now offered Tottenham fans a little more optimism by stating that the deal ‘is still alive’ despite disagreements between the two parties on payment terms. The journalist added that the next few hours are ‘key’ in determining whether Porro’s move to Spurs goes through.

The worst part about this sudden development is that Tottenham have seemingly not negotiated for any alternative right wing-back options this window. It means that Sporting have us right where they want us.

Unfortunately, I do not see the deal now going through as the Spurs hierarchy will not take kindly to the fact that the Portuguese club went back on their words at the very last moment in what seems like a deliberate ploy.
