Djed Spence’s latest social media post after his Man of the Match performance against Manchester United will excite Tottenham supporters, with the defender seemingly keen to make up for lost time.

Djed Spence’s strange career arc at Tottenham
Spence‘s career trajectory at Tottenham has been weird, to say the very least. There was plenty of excitement among Spurs fans when the full-back arrived at the club and he has always impressed when opportunities have come his way.
Yet, he was completely overlooked by Antonio Conte, who infamously described him as a “club signing”. The defender has also been overlooked by Ange Postecoglou until this season, with reports suggesting last year that he had an attitude problem.
In fact, Genoa even had the option to sign him permanently for £8.5m last summer on the back of his loan spell at the Serie A club, and Tottenham will now be thanking their stars that the Italian side did not take up that option.

Djed Spence sends message to fans after win over Man Utd
Even this season, Spence was initially overlooked by Postecoglou, being left out of the Europa League squad for the group stages. The Australian only handed the Englishman an opportunity due to the club’s injury crisis.
However, the 24-year-old has not looked back since coming into the starting eleven and appears to be growing with confidence with each game. One can make the case that he has been the club’s most consistent performer over the last couple of months.
Spence delivered another masterclass against Man Utd on Sunday, proving an impassable wall on the left, handling possession impressively in tight areas, and striding forward with purpose whenever space opened up.
The former Middlesbrough man picked up yet another Man of the Match award as a result, but he is not resting on his laurels. This was his second Premier League Man of the Match award in a row.
He took to Instagram after his side’s 1-0 win to post a picture of him with the award, along with the caption: ‘Still Hungry’.
Destiny Udogie is no longer guaranteed a place in the XI
It is clear that Udogie cannot just walk into Tottenham’s first-choice eleven any longer as Spence has made himself undroppable with his recent performances.
The Italian has also flattered to deceive this season, and he will now know that he has to step up his game if he wants to play every week.
