Bookies have slashed the odds on Harry Redknapp being the first Premiership managerial casualty of the season after a steady stream of betting was placed on him leaving.
Skybet reduced their odds from 66/1 to 25/1 and now are only offering evens on Redknapp leaving the high-flying club.
This betting pattern seems mysterious considering how Spurs have started the season, winning five of their seven league games so far, as well as progressing through to the fourth round of the Carling Cup with ease.
Spokesman Mike Triffitt said, “Tottenham have got off to a flyer this season, so the gamble on Redknapp to leave the club is mystifying. Usually there is no smoke without fire in these markets, although we did see a smiliar gamble recently on Benitez, which came to nothing.
“However, today punters are taking any price we put up on Harry to be first out, which suggests there may be some truth in the rumour.”
