‘Streets ahead’ Some Arsenal fans wont like Paul Merson’s assessment

Paul Merson believes that’s Tottenham Hotspur are streets ahead of his former side Arsenal.

The ex midfielder was asked for his thoughts ahead of the new Premier League season and believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will once again finish above their North London rivals in the Premier League.

If Spurs do manage to do so, it would be the fourth successive season in which they had had the bragging rights over the Woolwich.

Merson has tipped Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham to finish in the top three come the end of the season.

Spurs will certainly be looking to close the gap on the top two this season after finishing a staggering 27 points behind eventual winners City.

Despite Arsenal’s heavy investment in their squad this summer with acquisitions including David Luiz, Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney they will still have to battle it out for the final Champions League spots in the eyes of one of their own legends.

Merson told the Daily Star: “Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham will be the top three. They are streets ahead of the rest. But I’m not sure about United and Chelsea.”
