Striker hopes goal will persuade Spurs to buy him

Harry Redknapp - Tottenham Hotspur News

FC Twente’s Bryan Ruiz hopes his weekend goal was enough to encourage Tottenham.

The Costa Rica winger has been linked with a move to Spurs and according to reports in Holland, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was due to watch the forward in action during Saturday’s encounter with AZ Alkmaar but cancelled his trip to Enschede at the last minute when he learned that Ruiz would start the clash on the bench.

It is thought Redknapp will instead attend Tuesday night’s Champions League play-off match between FC Twente and Benfica to take a look at Ruiz.

The 25-year-old came on just after half-time for the Dutch giants on Saturday and netted a superb 66th-minute strike to seal their 2-0 victory over AZ.

“I hope that my goal has removed any doubt from the minds of Spurs and any other clubs,” he told Voetbal International.

“The reluctance of clubs (to sign me) cannot be to do with my technical skills. I showed what I can do last season with Twente.

“My physical condition is not a concern. I am fit.”

  1. Forget it! HR wouldn't buy this guy, he's not played for The Arse, he's not been managed by 'Arry before and he's never played in the EPL. No chance!!

  2. I’ve seen this guy play and he’s a rabbit in the box. With the quick football Spurs play, he could be GOAL mine and a prefect replacement for the departed Keane. He will be a wake up call to our remaining strike force. If we could also arrange a deal for Adebayor as well, my God it could be a really exciting season for us Spurs followers.

    • please can we stop this talk of adebayor i gurantee you he will only perform well in 4 games for us next season and that will be home and away to city and the scum other than those games he wont be up for it, I think he has severe motivational problems and since he moved from monaco he has had 1 good season i'd rather get ruiz and keep defoe 1 more year although defoe has bad dips in form my word when he's in form he'll get you 8-10 goals in as many games easy.If we had of had an in form defoe injury free last season we would of been 4th again comfortably. We still have a very talented squad it's just about using the right players at the right times. You all know what i mean

        • yeah the guy above lol. I have heard numerous spurs fans talk about how they would like adebayor on loan i personally dont think he would perform enough for us next season and in which case if he does'nt and loses his place which im certain of whats the point in bringing him in on loan and paying his wages. Might aswell BUY somebody talented If we are serious about being top 4 contenders then we should not be looking for somebody who cant hold down first team places due to inconsistency

  3. Buy him harry if a player wants to play for you he will put 110% every game please herry dip in to the transfer window he is a steal at 13.5 million

  4. Anyway he scores using his brains and as we know an intelligent player is always better and more useful if you compare him with all the current brainless Spurs strikers!
If he avoids injuries he could be a useful striker for Spurs.

  5. He is good at forward. At 13.5 million, a good price. If we get him and Odemwingie, and sell Defoe, and perhaps Crouch, then we should have a better attack than last year.

  6. He is better than any option we have now. We sold dos Santos, and Keane, now can we move JJ and perhaps Defoe, (Because he performed worse than Crouch and Pav last season) and buy this guy with some change left over. He is fast, intelligent, and good technically. Also, he can actually finish, consistently, which for us should be enough to improve our chances of getting into the top four.

  7. Get him in Harry! He is actually not a striker and plays mostley on the right wing even though hes left footed- he likes to cut in and shoot- he could be real compititon to Lennon and a proper no10 to replace Keane. All we need to badd to him now is a proper out and out striker who can play in front of vdv- Higuian please Levy!COYS!

    • LOL i'd love higuain too so would every other spurs fan but your in dream land if you think we can afford his wages and madrid love him anyway nice thought though he would be an incredible striker for us
