Striker said to be Conte’s priority Spurs target equals Cristiano Ronaldo record

Fiorentina striker, Dusan Vlahovic, who is reported to be on Tottenham’s radar, has now broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of most Serie A goals in a calendar year, Manchester Evening News have revealed.

Vlahvoic has been in exceptional form this season and the Serbian once again got on the scoresheet in Fiorentina’s 2-2 draw against Sassuolo on Sunday.

That was his 16th strike in Serie A this season and the 18th in all competitions so far in just 20 appearances (transfermarkt).

No wonder the Serbian is thought to be on the radars of several clubs around Europe, with Juventus, ArsenalManchester City and more recently Newcastle United said to be showing interest in the 21-year-old.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Antonio Conte made it clear to Spurs hierarchy as soon as he arrived at the club that the Viola star is at the top of his wishlist.

However, it is only going to get harder for the North Londoners to secure the centre-forward if he continues finding the back of the net with the same regularity he has over the past few months.

According to MEN, Vlahovic’s goal against Sassuolo was his 33rd strike of 2021, matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally in 2020.

Spurs Web Opinion

Fiorentina’s asking price up is likely to go up with every single goal that Vlahovic scores. Over the last 12 months, the 21-year-old has arguably been the best striker in world football.

In addition, the Serbian is not just a goalscorer. His all-around centre-forward play is up there with the best.

I suspect that whoever losses out on Haaland (among the likes of City, Barcelona, or Real Madrid), will make a huge effort to sign Vlahiovic. I am not convinced he will be in Tottenham’s reach.
