Striker Spurs linked with in January continues to impress in Bundesliga

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Wout Weghorst has been in fine form in front of goal since the resumption of the Bundesliga season.

The 27-year-old has particularly come into his own since his move to Wolfsburg in 2018and has impressed with his hold up play and clinical finishing.

Bild (via Sport Witness) reported in January that Weghorst was one of the strikers said to be on Spurs’ radar when they were on the lookout for a replacement for the injured Harry Kane.

Tottenham ended their search for a striker empty-handed in January despite Jose Mourinho admitting that he wanted to bolster his attacking options (Standard).

Weghorst has resumed from where he left off since the return of the German top flight.

The 27-year-old has netted three goals in his last two games, including a brace in Wolfsburg’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg on Saturday.

The latest three goals have taken his tally to 18 and 5 assists in all competitions so far this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

Spurs Web Opinion

Weghorst fits the profile of strikers we have been linked with so far – someone who offers a physical presence up front, can hold the ball up and is a threat on crosses into the box. However, it does not look like he is anywhere close to the top of our list of priorities in the summer based on the strikers we have been linked with so far.
