‘String you along’ – Paul Scholes sends warning to Man Utd about Harry Kane

Paul Scholes has suggested that Harry Kane might not be a realistic target for Manchester United this summer and urged the Red Devils to look towards other centre-forward options.

Until last week, it was widely reported that Kane was Erik Ten Hag’s top striker target for the summer transfer window (MEN) but things appear to have changed considerably over the last few days.

ESPN claimed earlier this week that United are hesitant to get into negotiations with Daniel Levy and fear that the talks for the England captain could drag on until the final few days of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel on Tuesday that there has been no concrete approach from the Red Devils for Kane so far as Tottenham simply have no intention of selling their talisman.

The journalist explained that there will not be any talks between the two clubs until the Lilywhites change their stance regarding the striker.

Scholes has now told his former club to pursue one of Victor Osimhen or Lautaro Martinez instead.

The Man Utd legend said on BT Sport 1 HD (16/3/12, 17:15): “I think there’s a few out there, I just don’t think Kane will move from Tottenham at this point.

“I think it’s tricky business dealing with Tottenham, dealing with Daniel Levy, he could string you along right until the very end of the last minute of the transfer window and leave you with nothing.

“I think there’s other players out there, I like Osimhen. I haven’t seen loads of him but I see him more of a [Didier] Drogba-type, possibly more of a Chelsea-type.

“Is he going to get those kind of crosses at United [that he does for Napoli]? I like Lautaro Martinez as well at Inter Milan, I just think he is Ten Hag’s type of player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The elephant in the room in this whole Kane to Man Utd saga that pundits keep ignoring is the fact that United are certainly not guaranteed to finish above Spurs this season.

If we do finish above the Red Devils once again, I cannot see the 29-year-old being desperate to jump ship to Old Trafford.
