‘Stumbling block’ – Alasdair Gold provides Japhet Tanganga Spurs update

Alasdair Gold has reported that Japhet Tanganga wants a move to AC Milan as his top choice if he leaves Spurs this summer, but there is a stumbling block in the deal.

The Football London journalist claims ‘advanced talks’ have been held between the two clubs, but one clear stumbling block remains in negotiations. Spurs want an obligation to buy clause and the Serie A side only want it to be an option.

Gold states the figure Spurs are demanding is £21m, but it is now a question of whether one of the two sides backs down over the next week.

This comes after CalcioMercato reported that Spurs and AC Milan were ‘not far’ away from reaching a full agreement for the English centre-back.

The report claimed the two clubs had agreed on a £20m figure, with an option to buy clause that would become an obligation under certain conditions, including a total appearance figure.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I imagine Tottenham will now be scouting out a replacement for Tanganga, just in case a deal can be agreed with AC Milan. However, I wouldn’t get your hopes up, Spurs fans. With Tanganga down the pecking order at the moment, it will not be a big name replacement.
