Tottenham Hotspur announced that Oliver Skipp is set to join Norwich City on loan for the 2020/21 campaign this evening.
Some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to wish the youngster the best of luck, with many claiming that it would be a good move for him.
Norwich City were recently relegated from the Premier League, meaning they are set to face a season in the Championship as they search for a route back to the top flight.
This will likely be Skipp’s first taste of consistent first-team football, as the teenager has never been loaned out by Tottenham before.
Despite that, he already has 23 senior appearances for his boyhood club, including 12 last season and 11 this time around (Wikipedia).
Jose Mourinho already hinted at a loan move earlier this year when he revealed that Skipp had requested such a deal in search of first-team minutes (Standard).
Here is how some Spurs fans reacted to the news that Skipp will be wearing the yellow and green of the Canaries next season:
Such a great move for Skippy ??

Probably wouldn’t get enough game time if he went to another Prem club hence championship Norwich who want to bounce back

50/50 on this.
If he was never going to play, of course send him out on loan to get minutes. However I thought he’d be first back up to Højbjerg in CDM as he’s the only other natural one— george b. (@g_brooks_) August 17, 2020
Exactly so he’s basically guaranteed game time which is good for us
