Jamie Redknapp has expressed his admiration for Dejan Kulusevski’s attributes as a player, as well as the winger’s mindset.
Tottenham only turned their attentions towards Kulusevski during the January transfer window after Liverpool stole Luis Diaz from under the noses of the North London club (The Athletic).
When the Lilywhites snapped up the 22-year-old, the signing was not met with too much excitement from the Spurs fan base, given the winger’s struggles to get into the Juventus side under Massimiliano Allegri.
However, Kulusevski made an instant impact after arriving at Tottenham and took to the Premier League like duck to water. The Sweden international has now established himself as a mainstay in Antonio Conte’s starting eleven.
Since joining, Kulusevski has recorded six goals and ten assists in just 24 appearances for Tottenham (TransferMarkt), including an assist against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Redknapp admitted that he has been impressed with the maturity the winger has for a man of his young age.
Ahead of Tottenham’s clash at the City Ground on Sunday, the former Spurs midfielder told Sky Sports (28/08/22 from 15:30 onwards) about the winger: “Not many players come in in January and hit the ground running like he has.

“I think you have to certainly say that (Fabio) Paratici the Director of Football, has done a good job getting those players, he would have known them at Juventus.
“But I really like him, great balance, tall, athletic, he sees a pass, that front three is formidable, and they’ve also got Richarlison now who can come in and give you another option or variation. I’ve been so impressed with him, he looks like such a mature young man.”

It is clear that Conte not only wants players with very specific attributes for each position in his system but also ones who put the needs of the team first.
Kulusevski is certainly a team player, who is willing to do the hard yards off the ball and the Swede also appears keen to learn and become the best player he can be.
