‘Such grace’ – Journalist says there is a lot of excitement at Spurs about 16-year-old

The Sun’s Tom Barclay has waxed lyrical about Tottenham academy youngster Mikey Moore, revealing that there is a lot of excitement at the club about the teenager.

There is quite a bit of hype about the current crop of Under-21 players at Spurs, with the likes of Ashley Phillips, Alfie Devine, Dane Scarlett, Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Jude Soonsup-Bell, Alfie Dorrington and others being quite highly thought of.

However, there is another player in the age group below who is generating a lot of excitement with his showings for the Under-18s.

Moore, who can operate as a striker, an attacking midfielder or a left-winger, has scored 12 goals and registered seven assists in just 10 games in the Under-18s Premier League so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast a couple of weeks ago, Alasdair Gold described the 16-year-old as an ‘incredible talent’ and revealed that the likes of Manchester City unsuccessfully tried to poach him from Spurs last summer.

Mikey Moore continues to impress at Hotspur Way

Barclay has also been quite impressed with what he has seen of Moore, admitting that a lot of people at Hotspur Way have been speaking highly of the youngster for quite a while.

The journalist said on The Tottenham Way Podcast: “Mikey Moore is a player that lots of people have been talking about for a long time, signed a new deal in the summer.

“He’s only 16 but when you watch him, he has such grace on the ball, such dribbling ability and vision, he’s someone who is definitely someone they’re excited about.”

While Tottenham might have been at risk of losing a top young talent like Moore previously, the 16-year-old will now feel that there is a fairly clear pathway to the first-team in the next few years, given that Ange Postecoglou is more than willing to trust youngsters if they are good enough.
