‘Suddenly spots someone he wants’ – Journalist makes Spurs deadline day prediction

Antonio Conte could suddenly spot someone he likes the look of on deadline day, according to Paul Brown, although the journalist does not expect Spurs to spend a huge sum of money before the window closes.

Conte has already deemed players like Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon to be surplus for requirements (Evening Standard). The boss left all four out of the pre-season squad and the opening two Premier League fixtures.

Lo Celso has returned to Villarreal on loan for the remainder of this season (BBC Sport), while Napoli have an agreement in principle with Tottenham for Ndombele (Fabrizio Romano).

Meanwhile, Reguilon has been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion (Football Insider) and Atletico Madrid (Fichajes).

Winks is being monitored by several Premier League clubs and Sampdoria (The Sun), but Spurs have not received any signs of strong interest in his services yet.

Tottenham recently parted ways with Joe Rodon though, with the centre-back joining Stade Rennes on a loan move, which also includes a buy option (Tottenham Hotspur).

The north London outfit could also part ways with others like Pape Matar Sarr, Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga this summer before the window closes (Daily Mail).

Tanganga has suitors in AS Roma and AC Milan (Calciomercato), with Milan also looking at Matar Sarr (Gazzetta dello Sport), while Gil is being targeted by Valencia and Real Sociedad (Fabrizio Romano).

Brown has now revealed that Conte’s team could bring in another star if they can offload more fringe players from their ranks ahead of deadline day. However, he can’t see big money leaving Tottenham’s pocket even if Conte spots someone he likes.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “It wouldn’t surprise me at all if we started to see some of Spurs’ misfits leaving and he [Conte] suddenly spots someone he wants on deadline day and they bring another one in, but I don’t think there will be a huge amount of money changing at Spurs for the rest of the window.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham have facilitated seven transfer moves so far in this transfer window, with Destiny Udogi undergoing medical currently (Football.London). However, they could still use some reinforcements in several areas if many of the players mentioned end up leaving.

Rodon’s exit and Tanganga’s potential departure could call for the need for another centre-back, while the midfield could use a different profile with someone more creative. The attack could also use another addition as Richarlison is forced to deputise for Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane at the same time.
