The news that Harry Kane is not opposed to signing a new contract at Tottenham has caused some Spurs fans on social media to speculate whether a release clause will be inserted into any potential agreement.
The Kane saga has already had many twists and turns over the last few months.
The striker has denied allegations that refused to train last week in an effort to engineer a move to Manchester City.
Despite Tottenham’s unwillingness to sell Kane, reports indicate that City are confident of hammering out a deal with the North London club for the England captian before the end of the month.
However, in what could be another twist in the story, Alasdair Gold has now revealed the 28-year-old’s camp have not ruled out a new contract with Spurs (Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast – 36 minutes in).

He said: “There are little bits of noises coming out from around his [Kane’s] camp not to entirely rule out a new contract for him which would be an incredible u-turn or a turnaround.”
Tottenham fans are not getting overly carried away with the update, with many believing the contract would likely contain a release clause that would allow Kane to depart next summer.
However, a few suggested that such a deal might suit all parties involved.

I am not prepared to believe this just yet. This could well be a leak from Tottenham to potentially put pressure on Manchester City to meet their valuation of Kane. I also cannot see Levy agreeing to a release clause.
