The Daily Mail reporter Josh Hughes has said that he would not be surprised if Oliver Skipp departs Tottenham this summer.

Skipp has struggled to get starts since Ange Postecoglou arrived through the door last summer, with the Tottenham academy graduate mostly being restricted to just cameos off the bench throughout the 2023-24 season.
There has understandably been a lot of speculation over his future, with some reports suggesting that he could follow Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg out of the door this summer as the North London club scour the market for a new number six (Football.London).
However, speaking to Tottenham’s official channel after the club’s post-season friendly against Newcastle last week, the 23-year-old indicated that he is happy at the club, remarking that all he could do was try and take the opportunities that come his way.

Oliver Skipp could be replaced at Tottenham this summer
Hughes has suggested that Spurs’ lack of homegrown numbers might force them to hang on to Skipp but admitted that he would not be surprised if the academy graduate departed the club.
The journalist said on The Spurs Chat Podcast: “The homegrown situation is something as well. Tanganga has gone to Millwall, you look at Dier going, Kane went. I wouldn’t be surprised, I think Skipp may stay, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was one who was forced to make way for someone better.”

Apart from the names mentioned by Hughes, Ryan Sessegnon, Troy Parrott and potentially Ben Davies could also be on their way out, thus considerably reducing Tottenham’s homegrown options. That explains why Postecoglou’s men are being linked with so many English players this summer.
