Sunday rumour – Crouch and Zamora swap deal

Peter Crouch - Tottenham Hotspur News

You can always talk the Sunday paper speculation with a pinch of salt and this story is no different. Apparently Spurs are also plotting a swap deal for Fulham striker Bobby Zamora with Peter Crouch going in the opposite direction.

Zamora had an unsuccessful six-month spell at White Hart Lane in 2003 before he was shipped off to West Ham as part of the deal which brought Jermain Defoe to Spurs.

Crouch has been linked with a host of clubs during the summer including Sunderland, Aston Villa and QPR. According to the report, Harry is a long-term admirer of Zamora and is in the market for two new strikers.

Fulham nearly signed Crouch two years ago when they thought they had reached an £11million deal with Portsmouth, but Crouch returned to Spurs – who were willing to pay a larger slice up front – for a fee believed to be around £9m. Fulham are still in a legal battle with Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards over the transfer.
