Super Pav set to extend Spurs stay

Roman Pavlyuchenko

Roman Pavlyuchenko is reportedly in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a new contract, according to his agent.

Spurs fans have had to put up with a year of speculation reporting another destination for the luxury Russian, but it seems the board are now willing to extend the striker’s stay at White Hart Lane.

A year ago, Pavlyuchenko was close to moves to Birmingham or back home to Russia, but instead played a pivotal role in Spurs clinching a place in this season’s Champions League.

Whilst speculation has remained that he could be moved on, Oleg Artemov has hinted that his client could be set to sign a new deal.

“Redknapp wouldn’t sell Pavlyuchenko now.

“The same can be said of the chairman (Daniel) Levy.

“Three months ago, Levy suggested Roman sign a new contract on improved terms. We are in negotiations and discussing the details.”

Artemov also suggested there would be a shake up of Spurs’ striking options, even if his client is set to remain with the club.

“Robbie Keane will most likely be sold and maybe Crouch.

“Roman isn’t even considering the option of returning to Russia anymore.

“He has changed greatly over the two-and-a-half years in London and has a different perspective.

“If we extend the contract with Tottenham, Roman will probably never play again in the Russian championship.”
