Supercomputer drops Tottenham down predicted Premier League table after Wolves draw

Opta’s supercomputer has revised its prediction on where Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the Premier League following the Lilywhites’ 1-1 draw against Wolves.

Most pundits predicted that Tottenham would thump Wolves, and many Spurs fans would have hoped for a comfortable win, given that the Midlands side came to N17 pointless from their first five matches.

However, Thomas Frank’s men struggled to break down the bottom-of-the-table side, and in the end, needed a moment of magic in stoppage time to avoid an embarrassing defeat.

The result has raised some alarm bells among Spurs fans, many of whom are now questioning the team’s inability to create chances consistently under Frank.

Supercomputer predicts where Tottenham will finish in the Premier League

Spurs Web has been tracking the table of Opta’s Supercomputer predictions since the start of the season.

Before the start of the campaign, the algorithm predicted that Spurs would finish in 14th place, collecting an estimated 47.92 points.

However, Tottenham had risen to seventh place in Opta’s prediction table after their first five matches, from which they had won three and lost just one.

Following the 1-1 draw against Wolves, Opta’s algorithm now predicts that Tottenham are expected to finish in eighth place behind the likes of Brighton and Bournemouth.

The supercomputer deduces, based on its data, that Spurs are expected to amass 55.49 points this season.

What are Spurs’ chances of qualifying for Europe?

According to the data analysis platform, Tottenham have just a 14.5 per cent chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Even more worryingly, Opta give Thomas Frank’s men a cumulative 32.2 per cent chance of either qualifying for the Champions League or the Europa League.

Most Tottenham fans will feel that finishing outside the top six will represent a poor season, even though it would still represent a marked improvement from the club’s league showing last campaign.
