Supercomputer makes Tottenham relegation prediction that shows why Spurs fans are angry

Opta’s supercomputer has made a grim prediction about Tottenham’s prospects in the Premier League this season.

While Tottenham continue to impress in Europe, their Premier League form has continued to go from bad to worse over the last few months.

Thomas Frank’s men currently find themselves in 14th place, and unless they quickly move up the standings, the Dane’s position will continue to come under scrutiny.

The Lilywhites have some tough fixtures coming up over the next month, and the worry for Spurs fans is that the team may get pushed closer to the drop zone.

Opta’s grim prediction about Tottenham’s European qualification prospects

Opta’s Supercomputer has suggested that Spurs are very unlikely to get sucked into the relegation battle.

The data analysis platform gives Tottenham just a 0.73 per cent chance of getting relegated this season.

While that may sound positive, Opta give Thomas Frank’s side just a 0.24 per cent chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League and just a 0.66 per cent chance of qualifying for the Europa League.

The algorithm thus suggests that the North Londoners are more likely to go down this season than finish in the top six or seven.

Could legitimate relegation concerns influence Spurs’ Thomas Frank decision?

It was reported by The Times a few days ago that Tottenham feel that there is a lack of clear alternatives available to Thomas Frank at the moment.

The report asserted that the Spurs hierarchy fears that a wrong appointment may push the club closer to the relegation zone.

There is no doubt that turning to someone like John Heitinga, who is inexperienced at this level, will be a huge gamble, and perhaps one that the club’s decision-makers feel is not worth taking at the moment.
