Supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s Premier League finish after Brighton heartbreak

Tottenham Hotspur’s fight for survival remains finely poised, but fresh projections have now offered a clearer picture of where their season could end.

Tottenham Hotspur needed to avoid defeat in their Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion, and they did just that.

A 2-2 draw against the most in-form side in the league at the moment is not a bad result, but it will sting for Spurs, who were so close to snatching all three points before conceding late in the game.

Regardless, there are still five matches left to play, and Tottenham will be hoping to get at least nine points from their final 15 if they are to secure their safety this season.

Tottenham supercomputer prediction after Brighton and Hove Albion draw

Unfortunately, Spurs’ draw against Brighton means they remain in the bottom three heading into the next gameweek.

A win on Saturday would have seen them climb as high as 16th, leapfrogging Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, who play later – a chance that has now been passed on.

Tottenham will no doubt be hoping for a favour from Burnley and Crystal Palace, who face Forest and West Ham respectively, to keep the gap between themselves and their rivals tight.

However, with five games left this season, Opta’s supercomputer has now crunched the numbers and predicted where Tottenham will finish the campaign after their latest draw.

According to the supercomputer, Spurs are expected to miss out on survival, finishing four points below the 40-point mark.

The AI believes that Tottenham will end on 36 points in 18th place, finishing just two points behind West Ham United, who will just about secure their own league status.

Spurs must build on Brighton performance to defy prediction

It certainly looks like doom and gloom for Spurs heading into the final weeks of the season, especially when they could be four points adrift of safety with a West Ham United win later this gameweek.

But Tottenham can draw some solace from their performance against Brighton, where they showed fighting spirit and grit against the Seagulls.

That was an encouraging display, one that, if they build on it, could see them secure more points in the final stretch of the season.

Up next for the Lilywhites is a clash against bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers – a must-win game for Tottenham.
