Opta’s Supercomputer has revealed how likely a Tottenham Hotspur player is to be crowned a World Cup champion on Sunday.

The eyes of world football are firmly on the United States as the World Cup reaches its climax.

Most will agree that the four best teams have made the semi-finals, with England, Argentina, France and Spain all being among the pre-tournament favourites.

There are four Spurs representatives in the semi-finals, with Cristian Romero and Marcos Senesi looking to retain the trophy with Argentina, while Djed Spence and Pedro Porro are looking to take the trophy to England and Spain, respectively.

A high likelihood of a Tottenham player being crowned World Champion

As per Opta’s Supercomputer, France are the favourites to lift the trophy at MetLife Stadium in New York on Sunday after coming agonisingly close to doing so in Qatar four years ago.

The data analysis platform gives Les Blues a 33.58 per cent chance of lifting the World Cup for the second time in eight years, which is understandable, given how well they have played.

That means that there is a 66.42 per cent chance that a Tottenham player will lift the trophy, as all three teams apart from the French have Spurs representatives in their squad.

How likely is each Spurs player to be crowned World Champion?

Pedro Porro is considered the most likely Tottenham player to lift the trophy, with Opta making Spain the second favourites with 23.84 per cent.

Djed Spence is the second most likely, with England being given a 22.6 2 per cent chance of going all the way, making them third favourites after France and Spain.

The data analysis website has given Argentina just a 19.96 per cent chance of retaining the trophy they won four years ago in Qatar, but one would not bet against Romero and co, given the fighting spirit they have shown in the tournament to bounce back from adversity.
