‘Superstar’ – Some Spurs fans rave about one player despite 3-1 loss to Arsenal

Some Spurs fans on social media admitted they were encouraged by Bryan Gil’s display when he came on in the second half against Arsenal.

Nuno Espirito Santo decided to start with a midfield three of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli in the North London Derby while Lucas Moura also returned to the side to start alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min upfront.

However, the away side failed to get going in the first half, with the Gunners starting the game much sharper.

Nuno’s men soon paid for their lacklustre opening as they found themselves 3-0 down just past the half-hour mark.

While Tottenham did finish the game strongly, especially after the introduction of Gil and Oliver Skipp, all they could manage was a late consolation through Son Heung-min.

Gil looked lively and energetic after coming on for Ndombele with 20 minutes left on the clock and the Spaniard was involved in the move down the left that led to Son’s goal.

Some Spurs fans on social media were impressed with what they saw from the 20-year-old, with many suggesting that the winger’s performance was the only positive to take from Sunday’s game.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gil has looked promising every time he has got an opportunity and he certainly deserves to be starting every game. I also believe Skipp should start over Hojbjerg, who I felt, was at fault for two of Arsenal’s goals. The Dane did not really bust a gut to track opposition runs into the box.
