Whether Tottenham Hotspur are the ‘biggest’ club in London or not, they have always been the club that has attracted the most envy and hatred from their rivals.

It has been obvious to most Spurs fans that Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea all consider Spurs to be their main rivals. Now, there is evidence to back this up.

Football.London reported the results of the ‘League of Love and Hate’, an annual survey that asks tens and thousands of fans across the country who they support and what they think of the other teams in their league.

Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham all picked Tottenham as the club they hated the most while Leicester City and Southampton supporters also didn’t show much love for the Lilywhites.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal came top of the poll as the least liked side for Spurs fans. Chelsea were second on the list followed by Manchester United, West Ham, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

It is certainly better to be hated than to be ignored. Tottenham Hotspur have undoubtedly been the best London club for the past few years. Rival fans will no doubt throw out the “but no trophies” complaint but that smacks of desperation as they know that a big one is just around the corner.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. It stands to reason, with the steep increase in anti-Semitism lately, being called Yids is hardly conducive in making us well liked!

  2. I’m not so sure of the anti-Semitism slant, I tend to think it’s because we have such massive support, all for a team that doesn’t win much….we just won’t go away. We are everywhere in London. I’m from Romford, mainly West Ham, but there’s a big Tottenham fanbase here. The West Ham fans can’t handle it. Now we have the worlds best stadium it rattles them even more. Think also of their athletic stadium and also of course the soulless bowl at the Arsenal.

  3. Antisemitism isn’t strictly true because Arse, Cheatski and the Spammers have large Jewish follows amongst their supporters. I think it’s more because Spurs fans take a very large following where ever they play and don’t take prisoners. Regarding antisemitism, Spurs fans use that to unite rather than divide and of course they were THE glamour club in bygone years which is coming back big time. The others don’t like that either.

  4. Aww adorable. Woolwich, the cockneys and the plastics all hate us.
We must be doing something right for such a rogues gallery to all pick us as they’re number one.
