Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, believes there is still the possibility we could see Toby Alderweireld leave for Old Trafford and Anthony Martial switch to Spurs.

However, the Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is reluctant to allow Martial to leave for a rival club.

Dharmesh Sheth told the Sky Sports News podcast:

“We’re told he wants to leave, now United may be prepared to let him go but not to a Premier League rival.”

“Tottenham have had a long-standing interest in Martial,” he added.

Having missed training for the past week now, the 22-year-old midfielder faces a £180,000 fine from the club.

Martial has found himself second choice to Alexis Sanchez since the Chilean made the move from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The Alderweireld saga has seemed to drag it’s feet for months now but with the Manchester United winger desperate for a move a straight swap may favour Spurs.

Spurs fans, would you be happy to let Alderweireld go this late in return for Martial?

  1. I must believe that Levy has a back up striker already in place and to be announced at the last moment so that it cannot be gazumped.Talks of 15 year olds and midfield players are all amusing smoke screens as any Spurs fan knows that we do have the likes of Amos that can be introduced during the season.BUT we must have back up for Harry we do not have any player who can fulfil that role.Martial will go to Juventus and anyway why should we try for a Man U flop as a swap for one of the best defenders in the world.Perhaps Levy can make a statement to us all in the press to assure us that our worries are totally groundless and that he has everything in hand .

  2. No way, I have no idea why we’d contemplate selling Toby. I can’t imagine the logic of letting the best centre back in the league go when we have no cover… Ridiculous!!

  3. What a waste of time all this talk of a swap deal has become! Spurs have wasted their time this summer on half hearted targets. Those supposed to leave – just go! Alderweireld especially! Everyone will be glad when the transfer deadline arrives.

  4. Every fan has known for over two years we need a backup for Harry Kane
so why hasn’t Levy bought someone. Don’t tell me we don’t have the money for we have wasted far too much on Pochettino ‘s recommendations. All foreigners and not good enough.
Pay up now before Harry Kane gets hurt.
