Some Spurs fans want to see Joe Rodon being handed his Tottenham debut against Burnley on Monday in order to cope with the aerial threat from the Clarets.
The central defender, who was snapped up by Tottenham from Swansea on deadline day, was not signed in time to be registered in the club’s Europa League group stage squad.
He watched on from the sidelines against LASK on Thursday as a makeshift centre-back pairing of Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez put in a solid display and helped Jose Mourinho’s men to register their first clean sheet of the season.
Mourinho confirmed after the match that Japhet Tanganga and Eric Dier are both doubts for their trip to Turf Moor as the pair continue to recover from their injuries (Football.London).
Some Spurs fans believe that the game represents the perfect opportunity to throw Rodon in, with a few suggesting that he might be the man to nullify Chris Wood’s threat in Dier’s absence.
Giving a 6'4 Joe Rodon a start against Burnley wouldn't be the dumbest idea

Dier or Rodon have to start due to Burnley’s height, plus I think moura should start as he has looked good last couple of games

Tbh Burnley might be perfect to Chuck Rodon in and have a look next to Dier. Not like Wood and Barnes are much different to what he’s faced in championship ?

Rodon (6ft 4) and Dier (6ft 2) could be a very good partnership vs Burnley up against Chris Wood (6 ft 3) and Ashley Barnes (6ft 1)

We NEED Rodon against Burnley, especially if we keep conceding stupid free kicks. With Dier out he is our only good CB in the air. I want Davies to get his chance in the Prem but it literally couldn't come at a worse time. Just imagine Davies trying to win headers against wood?

Davies LCB means that Dier might not be ready for Burnley.
Also means that Toby would obviously keep his place after a good performance vs West Ham and that we might also see Rodon get his debut
I'm excited for Toby x Rodon.
Looking forward to Dier x Rodon when it happens too.— Søøs (@FTHeritage) October 22, 2020
Joe Rodon to play against Burnley? A team that uses their aerial threat and physicality to their advantage to win would surely be tailor made for someone like him

Burnley gonna rinse us on long balls and set pieces
Rodon needs to start if Dier isn’t fit

Spurs Web Opinion
I cannot see Jose Mourinho handing Rodon his Premier League debut at a tough place like Turf Moor. I expect him to stick with the Sanchez-Alderweireld partnership if Dier is not fit. I expect Rodon to be eased in over the next few months. While Davies was impressive on Thursday, Burnley offer a completely different kind of threat to the one LASK did. So, I cannot see the Welshman starting in central defence, unless Mourinho decides to go with three at the back.
