‘Take a bow’ – Ferdinand hints at silver lining for Conte despite lack of Kane goals

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Antonio Conte will be pleased Tottenham are still getting goals from various players despite Harry Kane’s struggles in front of goal.

Tottenham brushed Norwich aside 3-0 on Sunday to move to within two points off West Ham in fourth place with a game in hand.

Spurs have now scored 7 goals in Conte’s four Premier League games in charge, having conceded only one.

Lucas Moura opened the scoring with a wondergoal as he went on a mazy run and exchanged passes with Son before letting off a blistering strike into the top corner.

Ferdinand certainly enjoyed the Brazilian’s moment of magic at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When asked if he saw Moura’s goal, the former Manchester United defender said on his YouTube channel Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE (starting at 31:52) “Ohh..! Banger, Lucas Moura, take a bow.”

The pundit also insisted that Conte will try to take positives from the fact that the Lilywhites still managed to put three past the Canaries despite Kane not finding his scoring boots.

He also stated that the Italian will be pleased with getting a second clean sheet on the bounce.

Ferdinand added: “I think he will be happy with Conte as well, that other people are scoring the goals.

“They are still getting the goals and other people are contributing, not having to rely on Harry [Kane]

“He’s probably thinking as a manager, ‘wait till Harry fires. Wait till I get him going’. So in that sense, it’s good. And he will be happy with a clean sheet.”

The fact that Spurs scored again from a set-piece for the third Premier League game running is also an additional positive that Conte will take, as it suggests that the work in the training ground is paying off.

I am not too worried about Kane’s form as he had a couple of decent efforts against Norwich that could have gone in on another day. I am convinced that it is only a matter of time before he starts banging them in again.
