Antonio Conte has hinted that it could be time to take a risk with Lucas Moura following the Brazilian’s recent return from injury.
The Tottenham head coach has little to choose from across the front line at the moment, with Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison both on the sidelines with injuries.
Meanwhile, Lucas Moura is yet to play more than twenty minutes or so off the bench following his return, while Bryan Gil has rarely been trusted to start under Conte.
When asked about the third forward role alongside Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Conte revealed that he wanted to wait until tomorrow morning to check what the situations are with injuries.
However, he also stated that Lucas is ‘improving’ and there comes a point where you have to take some risks, perhaps hinting that the winger could be thrust back into the starting XI a little sooner than they would have wanted.
Conte said (Football London): “Lucas Moura is a player who is recovering from a long issue. He’s improving but there are moments when you have to take some risks and we will see.
“I want to check tomorrow morning real situations with injuries. Will wait until tomorrow morning and then check position.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
Lucas looked really bright off the bench against Newcastle and gave Spurs a little more direct attack down the right, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start against Sporting, even if he has to come off after 60 minutes.
