Reports of Harry Kane being poised to make a £160m move to Manchester City this summer has incited a mixed response from some Spurs fans on social media.
Kane’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation over the past few months but reports suggest that Tottenham continued to maintain that the striker was not for sale behind the scenes.
The Sun revealed last night that chairman Daniel Levy had made a U-turn and agreed to make the England captain available for sale to City for £160m.
However, this claim that been dismissed by reliable sources including Football.London’s Alasdair Gold and The Athletics’ Charlie Eccleshare, who have suggested that Tottenham’s stance regarding Kane has not changed.
On hearing the initial report about Kane’s impending move to City, some Spurs fans on social media insisted that they would cash in on the striker for the reported transfer fee and reinvest the money into the squad.
However, others insisted the 28-year-old would be irreplaceable for the Lilywhites irrespective of the fee while a few refused to believe that there was any truth at all in The Sun’s report.
If the reports are genuine about Harry Kane to city for £160m then as a Spurs fan i would accept that it’s his time to go as long as the money goes back into the team.

There’s no point in panicking about Kane.
If he wants to leave he’s gonna want to leave next summer as well. We aren’t winning any major trophy next season.
His value is peaking now we won’t get 160m next summer. If the story is true you take that deal, anything else is stupid.— Jean 🤍 (@JeanxTHFC) July 22, 2021
If Kane was to leave for £160m it isnt because the club have changed their minds, its because City are actually bidding a realistic amount.
Not accepting £100m for someone of his quality wasn't playing hard ball, it was just common sense!

Selling Kane for 160m + the money from players we're replacing can give us:
– Kounde, Romero partnership (best young CB pair in the world?)
– A good RB
– Vlahovic or similar to replace Kane(good ceiling)
– A goalscoring winger(Bailey?) to replace Son(playing up top) https://t.co/4JefvLlQ13— SHARKY (@Belgian_Hotspur) July 23, 2021
People saying that they would take £160 million for Kane aren’t thinking straight
You simply can’t replace him no matter what money you get
He’s not worth 160m, 200m or any money
He’s effectively priceless because he’s irreplaceable pic.twitter.com/UWw9uVtYVS

The biggest shock isn't The Sun saying Kane is going for £160m, it's some spurs fans saying it should happen. Kane's value to spurs is priceless, spend more time watching him play and not just judging him on scoring goals.

For 160m take the money. Squad needs rebuilding now. Add a striker to the shopping list! Don’t misspend it like the Bale money on 7 average players; 3-4 quality players needed! 2 CBS, 1 RB, 1 striker.
It makes sense to do it now— Mike Wallace (@nipper81) July 23, 2021
But the Sun said so 🤦♂️ Charlie Kane is fast running out of avenues to push this down https://t.co/1BSNkfLUvs

Rule number 1 never trust the Sun. Kane stays 👍🏻 https://t.co/RnncXLfopn

As good as this is, it just shows how much the Kane camp are trying to force the move.
Messy few weeks ahead 🥴 https://t.co/6K37Gcf63t

Spurs Web Opinion
It remains to be seen if there is any truth to The Sun’s report but it does seem like there are some behind the scens who are doing everything in their power to engineer a move for the forward.
If City are willing to make a £160m offer, I believe it would be in Tottenham’s best interest to accept it.
Kane is not going to fetch a similar price next summer and that kind of money in a post-pandemic market would be enough for a substantial squad rebuild.
