‘Talks progressing’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spanish international

Valencia are confident of securing a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist claims that talks have been progressing for the Spanish international which would see Valencia cover his full wages until the end of the season.

Gil has yet to make a Premier League start with all of his nine top flight appearances coming off the bench (transfermarkt).

Earlier this week Gil appeared to question on Twitter speculation from Mundo Deportivo which suggested that the former Sevilla player was having a hard time adapting to life in England.

While it is obvious that Gil needs regular first-team football, I would much rather have seen him join a fellow Premier League club such as Burnley or Norwich City so he could get used to playing in England week in, week out.

A move back to Spain seems like the most comfortable option and while it will help in some ways, it is not going to bring him further up to speed with the rigors of football in this country which is part of the challenge of adapting to the Premier League.
