TalkSPORT team of the weekend contains three Spurs stars but no Heung Min Son

Tottenham Hotspur put in a superb performance at home to Burnley in the Premier League this weekend, putting to bed the woeful showing away to Man United in mid-week.

After Chelsea lost 3-1 to Everton in the early kick-off, it was a great chance for the Lilywhites to close the gap back down to six points, which they did.

Harry Kane scored within the first five minutes, which kickstarted a dominant Spurs performance, with Jose’s men putting five past Burnley without reply.

A Harry Kane brace, a clean sheet, a goal of the season contender from Heung Min Son, and strikes from Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko made it a near-perfect game.

However, talkSPORT left Sonny out of their team of the weekend this time around, opting for three other Spurs stars.

Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane, and Dele Alli all made the weekend XI after superb performances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

TalkSPORT writer, Josh Fordham, had this to say:

‘Jose Mourinho played Vertonghen at left-back against Burnley and had an outstanding game.

‘He claims the assist for Heung-Min Son’s wondergoal in the 5-0 win but also made five tackles and three clearances.

‘Alli’s recent upturn in form has coincided with Mourinho being appointed as Spurs boss.

‘He had two assists at the weekend and now has contributed to at least one goal in all five of Mourinho’s games so far.

‘Kane was at his best against Burnley on Saturday with two well-taken goals, to move to nine for the season.

‘He also added an assist to round off a top performance in their 5-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.’
