Tanganga reveals the motivational words which Mourinho shared with him

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho, well and truly threw his academy man Japhet Tanganga in at the deep end last week against the league leaders Liverpool.

A team that always score in the Premier League and have three of the best forwards in the world, as well as zero losses to their name in the league this season.

Not only that, but for his Premier League debut, Tanganga was marking the new African Footballer of the Year in Sadio Mane.

Having said that, Tanganga was one of Tottenham’s best players on the day and was unlucky to be on the losing side after keeping his man quiet.

He even moved to left-back in the second half, and has since played at right-back in the FA Cup, showing his versatility for Spurs boss Mourinho.

Tanganga has now revealed exactly what Mourinho has said to him since that debut and how he is willing to play anywhere for the Special One.

He said (Football London): “He [Mourinho] said well done for Liverpool but just keep working. Keep your head down, keep working for your next opportunity. Stay humble, grounded and keep working.”

On playing right-back against Middlesbrough, Tanganga added (Football London): “It hasn’t been for a while, I haven’t played right-back for a while but obviously if the manager needs me to do a job – left-back, right-back, midfield – I’ll do it.

“I’m comfortable on the ball, I’m comfortable doing a job wherever the manager needs me. I want to work for the team.”
