Team-mate begs on-loan Tottenham man to stay at club

Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu has taken to social media to beg Joe Rodon to remain at Elland Road beyond the end of the season.

After a miserable couple of years at Tottenham and struggling to get regular game time on loan at Rennes last season, Rodon finally seems to have got his career back on track since his loan switch to Leeds in the summer.

The centre-back is now delivering the kind of performances he did as a youngster at Swansea City and the on-loan Spurs defender will be hoping to help Daniel Farke’s men bounce straight back up to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Does Joe Rodon have a long-term future at Leeds?

Leeds do not have the option to buy Rodon on a permanent basis at the end of his loan spell and it was suggested by TEAMtalk last week that Spurs could demand around £20m for him next summer.

The 26-year-old delivered another solid display for the Championship outfit on Saturday as they overcame Middlesbrough 3-2 and when the defender took to Instagram after the game, his club and Welsh teammate, Ampadu commented ‘Please stay’ on his post.

Spurs Web Opinion

Rodon appears to be the kind of player who needs the right environment to thrive and in Farke, he has a manager who is willing to put an arm on his shoulder and give him confidence.

Even if Leeds fail to bounce straight back up, I suspect the centre-back would still be tempted to remain at Elland Road considering he would still be behind the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in the North London pecking order.
